RAILSIM was used to create a GIS-based database for the Metro-North New York State
territory, and generate C&S Block Plans and C&S Routing (Control
Line) Plans. The territory includes 404 track miles, encompassing the
railroad’s Hudson, Harlem and New Haven Lines. This
work was integrated into the Upper Harlem Line territory from Brewster North to Wassaic, which
had already been modeled in RAILSIM. The completed database includes:
-
Identification of
railroad-related C&S wayside entities, such as towers, Central Instrument
Houses (CIH’s), bungalows and cases;
-
Overgrade and
undergrade bridges and structure designations for all bridges;
-
Public and private
grade crossings;
-
Crossing names,
milepost and AAR designations;
-
Track centerline;
-
Platform configurations
and limits;
-
RAILSIM station codes;
-
Wayside signals, master
locations, code change points and other insulated joints;
-
Switches and movable
point frogs;
-
Grade and curve change
point designations;
-
Maximum authorized
speeds, speed restriction limits and Signal Design Speeds;
-
Signal control line
data, including route-by-route wayside aspects and code rates;
-
Catenary structures;
and
-
