Success Story
Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA)
RAILSIM License
The
Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has procured a site
license for SYSTRA's RAILSIM Simulation Software Suite, as a useful
tool for their planning and design of public transportation system.
The LTA license covers the entire RAILSIM suite of applications,
including:
SYSTRA USA, in cooperation with its
parent company, SYSTRA S.A., provided the software, automated software
installation, full documentation, and on site training (with
customized training tutorials), along with full software maintenance
and user support.
The RAILSIM suite includes simulation
and design capabilities for many types of train control systems,
including the fixed block and moving block systems employed by the LTA.
LTA’s fixed block systems, in service on the North South Line and East
West Line use coded track circuits to enforce safe train separation
and adherence to speed restrictions. LTA’s moving block systems, in
service on the North East Line and planned for the CCL, use continuous
communication between trains and the wayside to enforce safe train
separation, adherence to speed restrictions and highly-accurate
station platform berthing.
RAILSIM’s support for CBTC modeling
and analysis includes flexible menu-driven inputs for buffer distances
(ahead of and behind each simulated train), communication times and
system latency, underspeed settings for typical operation, and
guaranteed brake rate settings. The guaranteed brake rate settings can
differ for station stopping, civil speed/speed restriction enforcement
and train separation. The RAILSIM database also supports
site-specific definition of relocalization beacons, the
wayside-to-train communications devices that serve to reset any
accrued error in each train’s determination of current position on the
track. RAILSIM accurately simulates user-specified modeling of
accrued positional error and its effect on each train’s performance.
