Safe Braking Calculator

RAILSIM Safe Braking Distance Calculator supports calculations for
multiple-stage runs.
Each stage is user-defined, including its duration and type of
tractive and braking effort curves used.
RAILSIM's Safe Braking Distance
Calculator calculates safe braking distances for "worst case"
signal design purposes. Like the Headway Calculator, the Safe Braking
Distance Calculator can be used from either RAILSIM Editor or from RAILSIM TPC. It can analyze any number of defined train
types from any number of
Signal/IJ/Bond Locations, using these powerful features:
- Both Forward and Reverse safe
braking distance processing;
- Processing of single or multiple
stages in a single run (Free Running for 3 seconds, followed by
Coast for 8 seconds, followed by Braking to a Stop, for example);
- User-specified train compositions,
including testing of multiple train lengths;
- User-specified settings and
parameters, including Rear Wheel to Coupler Overhang distance, ATC
Receiver/Trip Cock Setback, and a buffer distance (typically the
positional accuracy uncertainty);
- Processing of multiple velocities
for a single location,
- Adjustment factors for reducing
curves and for all braking curves.
When accessed from RAILSIM Editor, this
add-on lets you generate an engineering drawing in CAD DXF file format
in addition to the traditional RAILSIM Safe Braking Distance Report.
