RAILSIM's Signal Design
Add-On is used to support engineering design and optimization of train
control systems through its automated control line generation
capabilities. Integrated with RAILSIM Editor's Track Profile Editor,
the Signal Design Add-On generates bidirectional control lines based
on your rail network and your specifications of:
- Permitted signal
aspect and/or code rate sequences,
- Prohibited signal
aspect and/or code rate sequences, and
- Safe braking
distance criteria.

RAILSIM Signal Design
Add-On supports user-specification of
permitted (above) and prohibited (below) cab and wayside signal
code rate/aspect sequences.

after automated control line generation using the Signal Design
Add-On, showing (from top to bottom) West Control Lines, Track
Schematic, and East Control Lines.
The Signal Design
Add-On supports quick modification of design speeds, signal locations,
control lines and other system attributes. These changes can then be
saved in the RAILSIM database.
RAILSIM’s integrated
system lets you test new designs in Network Simulator and/or RAILSIM
TPC, through Safe Braking Distance, Signal Delay, Signal Clear and
Headway reports. At any point in this iterative process of fine tuning
a signal system, you can generate engineering drawings (in CAD DXF
file format) of the new
design from the Track Profile Editor.
